Introduction
Adding a miner to your customer’s fleet is a crucial step and needs to be done the right way. This process ensures that the miner is linked to the correct client, contract, pricing, and hosting location.
Before adding any miner, it is essential to verify that a valid contract exists for that customer.
1. Before You Start: Make Sure a Contract Exists
MeasureX requires a contract to calculate electricity consumption and hosting fees.
You will not be able to add a miner without tying it to a valid contract.
Key reminders:
- Miner contracts define the electricity price negotiated with the customer.
- Miners must always be linked to one contract.
- Using the correct contract reference avoids billing errors.
Tip: Keep the contract reference at hand before adding the miner.
Even though MeasureX will automatically show the available contracts for that customer, having the reference ready reduces mistakes.
2. Adding a Miner Step by Step
-
Open the “Add miner” Section
From the left navigation bar, click Add Miner.
This will open the miner creation form.
-
Select the Manufacturer
Choose the correct manufacturer (e.g., Bitmain).
This filters the list of available models.
-
Select the Exact Model
You must select the correct model AND the correct nominal hashrate.
This is critical because multiple variants exist under the same model name. For example:
- S21 188 TH/s
- S21 200 TH/s
Selecting the wrong variant will result in incorrect power and consumption calculations.
-
Select the Customer
Choose the client who owns the miner.
Once selected, MeasureX will display all contracts available for that customer.
-
Select the Contract Reference
Pick the appropriate contract from the customer’s list of active contracts.
This is what ensures the miner is billed at the correct electricity price.
-
Choose the Hosting Location
Select the site, container, or room where the miner will physically be hosted.
Only locations already implemented in your admin environment will appear.
-
Fill in the MAC Address and Worker Name
This is a non-negotiable step.
- MAC Address → Unique identifier for the machine
- Worker Name → Name used for pool identification
Important: Please note that the worker name shown in MeasureX is not the full worker name configured on the miner.
On the miner, the format is:
[AccountName].[WorkerName]
Example: testminer.1
In MeasureX, you only need to enter the portion after the dot (.).
So in this example, the correct worker name to use in MeasureX would be: 1
Without these two fields, the miner cannot be managed properly.
-
Select the Correct Pool
Choose the mining pool the customer uses.
Make sure it matches the pool configured inside the miner hardware.
Note: Once the miner is created, you can add additional details, such as the IP address and serial number, directly from that miner’s page.
