This article explains how mining pools and Pool API statuses work in the MeasureX Admin Area, what different statuses mean, and how to handle common scenarios.
Overview: Supported Pool Types
In MeasureX, miners can be assigned to different pool types. The pool connection determines how uptime and performance data is tracked and how billing is calculated.
1. Default Pool
The Default pool is not a real mining pool. It is used for miners that are not supported by a connected pool API.
Behavior:
Miner status is always shown as “Miner active” Uptime is calculated as 100% Electricity costs are billed at 100% Pool API status is always “OK”
This ensures uninterrupted billing and avoids gaps in electricity charging when no pool data is available.
2. Connected Pools (e.g. OurPool, NiceHash, ViaBTC, EMCD)
MeasureX supports pool APIs provided by hosting providers or third-party pools such as NiceHash or ViaBTC (availability depends on provider configuration).
When a miner is connected to a supported pool:
Real uptime is tracked via the pool API Billing is based on actual mining activity Credit notes due to downtime can be avoided
Pool API Statuses Explained
When using OurPool (provider-specific pool API), the system may display different statuses depending on the data received.
NO KEY:
The customer has not entered their wallet address (pool account). Without the wallet address, MeasureX cannot request miner data from the pool API.
Solution:
The customer can add or update their wallet address in:
User Area → Settings → Pools
UNKNOWN / NO MINER and others:
The pool account is present, but no miner data is returned. This can happen for several reasons:
- The worker name is incorrect
- The miners are running under a different pool account
- The pool API returns empty data (can happen occasionally if the pool API is unstable)
- The miner was recently connected and is still being calibrated
Note:
After the first connection, miners may need 1–2 hours online before correct status and uptime data is fully available, as MeasureX performs multiple API calls during the initial calibration phase.
OK:
Pool API is working correctly Miner data is received successfully Real uptime and performance data are available and used for billing.
Important Billing & Security Logic
For the following cases:
NO KEY UNKNOWN / NO MINER Any other situation where no reliable pool data is available MeasureX automatically sets the miner status to “Miner active”.
Why this is important:
This prevents potential misuse where miners could appear offline to avoid electricity charges. If no trustworthy data is received, the system assumes the miner is online to protect providers from financial loss.
Viewing Detailed API Responses
In the Admin Area, you can hover over the Pool API Status to see the exact response returned by the API call. This helps with:
- Troubleshooting pool connections
- Identifying incorrect worker names
- Supporting customers more efficiently
